Denver Extends its Closure of E. 56th Avenue from Peoria to Peña for Emergency Work
Denver – Denver’s Department of Transportation and Infrastructure has determined that a damaged sanitary sewer pipe discovered by crews implementing a travel and safety improvement project on East 56th Avenue (damage not caused by their construction activities) will need to be replaced rather than repaired to ensure the integrity of the pipe for years to come. Replacement of the pipe will require additional time, resulting in an extension of the current closure of E. 56th Avenue from Peoria Street to Peña Boulevard through Sunday, December 18. Also affected, a stretch of Chambers from E 56th Avenue to Maxwell Place.
Electronic message boards are in place to alert people to the closure. Alternate routes are advised, including the I-70 corridor for access between Peoria St and Peña Blvd.
