Dignify Dementia—Local FV Non-Profit—thanks you!

Hello fellow Fairway Villas Community Members,

My name is Jenni Desserich and I’ve recently established Dignify Dementia. a nonprofit organization inspired by my dad. He was diagnosed with Lewy Body Disease with Parkinsonism (LBD or Dementia with Lewy Bodies) in 2018 and has had a desire to help others like him (meaning those diagnosed with dementia of any kind) by making the resources I've researched and developed for him available to the public. At Dignify Dementia, we help people living with dementia and those experiencing mental health problems, as well as members of their care community, to get, and stay, organized by offering a unique toolkit with fillable and customizable forms that allow each person to enact and track simple, manageable routines. All of our toolkit products require skills that are beneficial for all of us to use daily. Reading, processing visual and tactile information, following multiple-part instructions, writing, spelling, and checking in with ourselves about how we feel physically and emotionally, for example, are useful to help stay sharp, especially with any kind of neurocognitive conditions.

In just under 2 weeks we have raised over $700. I want to sincerely thank each and every one of you whether you have donated, or not. Each visit to our site (dignifydementia.org) or our Facebook page helps us get our name and our mission out there. Please continue to support Dignify Dementia by accepting our friend requests, liking/sharing our posts, and/or sharing your stories with us on our blog or a Facebook post, which can all lead to awareness, compassion and de-stigmatization surrounding Dementia.

I’d also like to encourage you to donate, if you’re able – you can make a difference! Even $5 will have a big impact in our launching our organization, providing resources to not only those suffering from dementia or mental health problems, but also, those who care for them in a personal or professional setting. Having raised a little more than $700 in less than 2 weeks, I believe that together, we have a really great chance to raise the remaining $2,000 for Dignify Dementia by 12/31/2022!
